“Scream” star Sonia Ammar breaks her full gym routine

    Sonia Ammar may only be 22 years old, but she has already started her second career. After years of modeling, she starred in the movie Scream It marks her official transition into acting.

    Pilates classes are one of her favorite ways to break a sweat. She says machines, such as the reformer and the chair, help her stretch her entire body. On other days, she resorts to lifting weights and resistance bands for a full-body workout.

    Even the amount of time you spend practicing changes. Sometimes it’s an hour of interval training or a long walk, while on other days she may move her body for a quick 20 minutes. Sonya adds that this baseline “really affected my mental health.”

    In terms of food, Sonya is a fan of intermittent fasting.

    during filming Scream Sonya noticed that her eating habits began to change. “I found out that I wasn’t very disciplined with my food,” she says. Between eating whatever was available in the group (at all times of the day) and “drinking a lot of coffee,” she wasn’t feeling her best.

    She has since given up coffee entirely and now sticks to a flexible, intermittent fasting schedule.

    You start eating around noon every day, and then eat a meal whenever you feel hungry afterward. “I still find that balance,” she says. “I don’t think I’ve found the perfect strategy.” Sonya also says she’ll eat breakfast if she wakes up feeling extra hungry – it’s all about “listening to my body and what I need.”

    She is developing her skills in the kitchen. Sonya admits: “I am the worst chef.” “I love food and I love eating out, but I definitely feel embarrassed about my cooking skills.”

    Therefore, she challenges herself to cook dinner at least twice a week. Typically, she whips up a plate of marinated chicken with rice and some vegetables, like sweet potatoes or zucchini (delicious!).

    She is working hard to improve her mental health.

    First thing’s first: Sonya wakes up with the help of the alarm clock, not her phone. Then meditate for five to ten minutes. This morning routine helps Sonya start the day off right.

    As the day goes on, Sonya likes to take time out to read, watch TED talks, or go for a walk.

    Prioritizing her mental health is new to Sonya, but she says it has made a huge difference. She’s honest about her past experiences as a model: The industry has often made her feel objective, with so much emphasis placed on her body.

    Now that she’s switched to acting, she’s focused on her health by revamping her daily routine. Results? “I think the best thing I’ve realized for me is that accepting your body and accepting your appearance ‘is the key,’ but the most important is fixing the way you feel,” she says.
